In short – I’VE DONE IT!
At 5am on 8 January I joined around 20,000 others on a freeway to race round the Magic Kingdom in Florida which dates back to the
mid-20th century, for my first half marathon. At 6.30am on 4 December I joined around 5,000 others to race round Angkor Wat the Kingdom of Suryavarman II which dates back to the mid-12th century. 800 years apart, but joined by my goal of raising money for the Children of Cambodia.
This was easily the most interesting race I have done with lots to see including monkeys, elephants, monks and, of course the temples
themselves. We arrived just in time to see the sun rise over Angkor Wat and the race started at 6.30am just as there was enough light to see by. Tree coverage kept the bulk of the route relatively cool which was a blessing. My slow time was a result of lack of training
since Cardiff and I’m dreading going back to running and the gym in the new year.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this year; I don’t think I’ll have another one quite like it!
